This Ethiopian coffee is produced by small-scale farmers from the Gedeo and Oromo communities, who speak Gedeofa and Oromifa. Farms are usually 0.5 to 2 hectares, and families harvest their own crops, producing one to three 60-kilo bags annually. Only ripe cherries are picked, often with family help, and washing stations pay premiums for these high-quality cherries before processing them. The result is a coffee with distinct papaya and orange notes, reflecting the region's rich agricultural heritage.
